Rider thrown 5m down embankment in horror motorbike crash

UPDATE @ 10.30 AM | Two motorbike riders have been injured in a horror crash in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Emergency crews were called to Beechmont Road at Beechmont around 7.45am on Saturday, following reports two motorcycles had collided.

It’s understood one man, aged in his 40s, was thrown from his bike and landed five metres down an embankment.

He had to be rescued with the help Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews.

He was then treated on scene by critical care paramedics for arm and pelvic injuries before being rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The second rider, a man also aged in his 40s, suffered leg and arm injuries and was taken to the Uni Hospital in a stable condition.

Beechmont Road was briefly closed as crews responded to the crash.

EARLIER @ 8.30 AM | Emergency crews are currently on the scene of a serious crash between two motorbikes in the Gold Coast hinterland.

The two motorcycles collided on Beechmont Road at Beechmont around 7.45am this morning.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesperson told myGC one rider was thrown between five to six metres down an embankment.

Critical care paramedics and fire crews are on scene assisting with the rescue operation.

Both riders have suffered shoulder and arm injuries, however their conditions are not known at this stage.

Beechmont Road has been closed, with motorists urged to avoid the area.
