Road rage sparks shooting in Lake Macquarie

A man has been arrested after allegedly opening fire on his neighbours house following a road rage incident in Lake Macquarie last night.

Police said two vehicles being driven by two men who lived next door to each other almost collided on Newark Street in Buttaba around 10.30pm.

After the drivers returned to their homes, police said they became involved in an argument, during which one of the men, aged 41, allegedly threatened the other man, aged 26.

The older man then allegedly retrieved a shortened slug gun from his home and fired it at the other man’s house.

Police were called to the scene and officers seized the firearm from inside the 41-year-old man’s home.

He was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with malicious damage and firearm offences including possess shortened firearm in manner likely to injure property/person.

He was refused bail to appear at Toronto Local Court today.
