People who use Beechmont Road to get to and from the Coast will be living with roadworks on the mountain for the next four months.
The work will see the narrow road widened between Ingham Street and Jardine Road.
Main Roads and Road Safety Minister, Mark Bailey, said the $1.6 million project will help improve safety.

“Widening this section of the road will allow for the lanes to be extended and match the nearby newer section,” Mr Bailey said.
“Boosting safety here is great news for residents and motorists who regularly use Beechmont Road.
The upgrades are part of the Government’s Safer Roads Sooner program, which is aimed at improving high-risk hot spots.
