Robbers on the run after slamming stolen car into tree

POLICE are hunting for two people who stole a car during an armed home invasion, before crashing the vehicle and running off.

The robbers, described as two young men, forced their way through the garage door and into the Crestmead home on Tuesday afternoon.

They threatened the elderly male resident with a knife and chisel, before searching the Coffey Street house.

They then stole a Holden Captiva from the garage.

That car was found crashed into a tree a short time later on Hakari Street, but the duo had fled the scene.

The men are described as in their late teens or early twenties, one is about 170cm tall, solid build with brown hair and the other is 183cm tall with a thin build.

The victims were not physically injured in the incident and do not know the men.

Police are appealing for anyone with further information, CCTV or dashcam vision to contact police.
