Robbery victim gives chase and recovers stolen handbag

POLICE are looking for a man who allegedly robbed an Asian convenience store in Southport on Friday afternoon.

It’s understood the man, dressed in black tracksuit pants and a green hoodie, entered the small grocery store on Nind Street shortly after 5pm and indicated that he had a weapon in his pocket.

Police say the offender, whom had his face obscured with a cloth, then demanded money from two women working in the shop before fleeing through a rear door after stealing a handbag.

One of the women gave chase which spooked the man causing him to drop the bag and its contents nearby.

Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident.
