RORY McILROY has taken out the US PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky.
The dark clouds came rolling in as things got tight at the top of the leaderboard, with Phil Mickelson hot on McIlroy’s tail into the final hole.
Mickelson had the chance to equalise but missed the Eagle putt needed to take an equal share of the lead.

McIlroy finished on 16-under, one shot ahead of Mickelson and two shots ahead of Henrik Stenson.
Local pair Jason Day and Adam Scott didn’t have what it took to compete with the front runners, both finihsing on 9-under in a tie for 15th.
McIlroy’s win now gives him a solid lead in the golfing rankings too.
He just took the number one spot from Scott a week ago and the only chance the Gold Coaster had to snatch back that win was with victory over McIlroy at this tournament.
