Routine traffic stop catches Riverina drug courier with $250,000 worth of meth

POLICE have caught a man transporting a quarter of a million dollars worth of ecstasy, cocaine, and ice through the Riverina region this morning. 

It’s alleged police were patrolling the Narrandera township around 2am on Friday when they intercepted a Hyundai van at the intersection of the Newell Highway and Twynan Street for a random breath test.

After speaking to the driver, police conducted a search of the vehicle and allegedly found almost 1 kilogram of amphetamines and almost half a kilo of methylamphetamines (Ice).


A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Narrandera Police Station where officers conducted a more thorough search of the vehicle.

In total, police located and seized ecstasy tablets, cocaine, cannabis, steroids, cash, numerous mobile phones as well as tablet devices and a laptop computer.

Police say the drugs have an estimated combined street value of $250,000.

The man was charged with drug offences including supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug, and was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Saturday October 11.

Police investigations are continuing.
