RSPCA investigating after chickens ‘deliberately set alight’

RSPCA South Australia is appealing for help from the public after two chickens were allegedly “deliberately set alight” in a shocking act of animal cruelty.

The chickens were found in a skate park at Kidman Park in Adelaide around 3pm on Sunday afternoon.

A member of the public called the RSPCA’s Cruelty Report Hotline to say that she had found two burnt chickens, one which was deceased and the other alive, but badly injured and distressed.

The second chicken has since died.

RSPCA is now desperately seeking information to help identify the person or persons responsible.

“Anyone who believes they may be the owners of these chickens – or who may know the identity of the owners – is also asked to please call RSPCA South Australia’s 24-hour cruelty hotline on 1300 4 777 22,” the animal rescue organisation said in a statement.
