“Our Rescue Officers have attended the park and searched, but have been unable to locate the duck,” they said.

“If still alive, this duck requires urgent veterinary attention.”

Social media users have been quick to condemn the person/s responsible.

“How barbaric   Poor little duck… I hope the sick person responsible for such an abhorrent act is found and punished accordingly. And I really hope this duck is found and can be helped asap,” one person wrote.

The RSPCA says that under the Animal Welfare Act penalties for aggravated animal cruelty are up to four years imprisonment or a fine of up to $50,000.
