The International Olympic Committee has banned Russia from competing at next year’s Winter Olympics, effective immediately.
It follows claims the Russian Government was involved in a state-sponsored doping program at the Sochi Games in 2014.
The IOC also suspended Russian Olympic Committee president Alexander Zhukov as an IOC member and banned Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko from the Olympics for life.

Russian athletes will still have the chance to compete under the Olympic flag however, if they can prove they are clean.
It’s alleged the country made performance enhancing substances and swapped urine samples to avoid being caught.
