Salim Mehajer injured in car crash on way to court
Former Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer has been rushed to hospital after he was involved in a car accident whilst on his way to court.
The crash happened on Delhi Street in Lidcombe, in Sydney’s west, around 8.45am Monday.
Local media say Mehajer was trapped in the wreckage for a short time before being freed by emergency services.
Photos posted to social media show the 31-year-old being stretchered into an ambulance in a neck brace.
It’s understood Mehajer was on his way to Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court to face charges over an alleged assault on a taxi driver.
Mehajer’s lawyer told the court his client was involved in a “relatively serious” accident and has been taken to hospital.
His case has reportedly been adjourned.
