Sam Stosur Bows Out of WTA Portugal Open

GOLD Coaster Sam Stosur has been defeated in the first round of the Portugal Open.

The Australian going down to Swiss player Timea Bacsinszky 2-0 (6-4,6-0) on the second day of the WTA event.

It’s not a good start to the European clay court season for Stosur, given she’s been a former finalist at the French Open and likes playing on clay. However her poor form and low confidence meant another early exit for her in this event.
