Two school leavers from New South Wales have been charged following the incident. A 17-year-old was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and assault, and an 18-year-old was also charged with one count of assault.

One was arrested in dramatic fashion following the incident. It’s understood he tried to run from the scene and was chased by a large group of police inside McDonald’s restaurant. He attempted to jump over a table but fell and was quickly detained.

There are reports other schoolies cheered as police led him out of the area.

Also overnight, 36 schoolies issued with liquor infringement notices for drinking in a public place. Nine toolies were also arrested on 12 charges, mainly for public nuisance, street and drug offences with seven non-schoolies receiving liquor infringement notices.
