Schoolies tipped to inject $43m into the Gold Coast economy next month

TENS of thousands of teenagers will inject more than $40 million into the Gold Coast economy next month when they invade the city for the annual Schoolies party.

There are just three weeks to go before approximately 30,000 graduating students from around Australia descend on the Glitter Strip from November 18 for the end-of-year celebrations.

Leading Schoolies operator, schoolies.com, predicts this year will be one of the best yet, with organisers providing the biggest line-up of entertainment in the events’ history.

Taking the schoolies experience to new heights this year is the Schoolies Tour, featuring more than 50 DJs, all age parties, club shows and the only beach festival in Surfers Paradise – Schoolies Nation.

Timmy Trumpet and Tigerlily will headline the Schoolies Nation Beach Festival with LDRU and DJ Havana Brown playing huge club shows in what is the biggest program ever presented by schoolies.com.

Schoolies.com says around 30,000 Schoolies spend, on average, $1600 each during their stay on the Gold Coast, comprising approximately $600 for accommodation and $1000 for entertainment, food and other items.

This equates to around $48 million being injected into the local economy.
