Jandal man Scott McLaughlin has claimed the highest honour of the V8 Supercars, being awarded the Barry Sheene medal for the sports best and fairest.
Last night’s V8 Supercars awards ceremony saw an emotional McLaughlin, 21, awarded the prestigious award based on the votes of former drivers and members of the media.
The Volvo driver shot to stardom when he defeated Jamie Whincup on the last corner of the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide and has continued to impress since.

McLaughlin also claimed 10 pole positions and 4 wins, finishing fifth place in the series.
