Scott Morrison maintains record high approval rating, ahead of by-election test

The Prime Minister has further extended his popularity in the latest Newspoll.

The results, published in the Australian, show Scott Morrison leading Opposition leader Anthony Albanese as preferred Prime Minister 58 to 26.

While Mr Morrison’s approval rating has risen to 68 percent, a record high result.

Overall, the Coalition has a slim two point election winning lead again Labor, at 51-49 after preferences.

The results come ahead of this weekend’s first by-election battle, for the NSW seat of Eden Monaro.

Labor will be hoping to retain the margin seat.
