It’s good news for Scott Morrison today, with the first Newspoll since his shock election win revealing he’s Australia’s preferred Prime Minister.
The poll, published by The Australian on Sunday night, shows Morrison well ahead of Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese at 48 to 31 per cent.
The latest Newspoll also shows support for the Federal Government has surged since the May 18 upset.

The Liberal Party leads Labor 53 to 47 per cent on a two-party preferred basis.
It comes as the poll also reveals Morrison’s approval rating has increased rapidly to 51 per cent, up five points since the election.
His disapproval rating is down nine points to 36 per cent.
