EARLIER @ October 16, 2.15pm: A six-year-old girl has managed to escape the arms of a man who broke into her family home and snatched her from her bed in Logan this morning.

The intruder broke into the Pinelands Drive home around 5.00am by reaching through a dog flap to unlock a back door.

He then made his way upstairs, past the young girl’s sleeping parents, and into the room of the six-year-old.

He then removed the child from her bed and carried her downstairs to the lounge-room.

Sergeant Grant Ralston said the child thought she was being moved by her parents and it “wasn’t until she was in the downstairs area that she realised it wasn’t.”

Luckily, the youngster managed to let out a loud scream which alerted her mother and father.

Police say the intruder then punched the young girl in the face before fleeing the home on a BMX bike.

He remains at large with a major manhunt now underway.

The man is described as having a dark complexion, aged in his early 20s, wearing long pants and a charcoal hoodie.

Detectives are desperately appealing for anyone who may have any information to come forward.

Police say the child wasn’t seriously hurt, but she and her family have been offered medical and counselling support by the Logan Community Hospital.
