Search teams recover man’s body from floodwaters

UPDATE 10:00PM | SEARCH teams have recovered the body of a man who was swept away in floodwaters south-west of Forbes on Friday.

Police released a statement just before 9.30pm tonight, confirming the man’s body was found beside a makeshift boat-ramp.

Although the body is yet to be formally identified, police say it is believed to be that of 49-year-old Robert Linnane.

More than 100 police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and SES volunteers have been involved in a wide-scale search for the man since he was reported missing on Saturday morning.

 

EARLIER: POLICE are still searching for a man missing in floodwaters south-west of Forbes, in central west NSW.

Robert Linnane, 49, was last seen at about 12.30pm on Friday 30 September. His family reported him missing the following morning.

More than 100 volunteers have spent the past five days searching for the man in the Burcher/Nerang Cowal/Lake Cowal area but to no avail.

A boat belonging to Mr Linnane was found submerged in floodwater on Saturday afternoon.

The search resumed at 7am this morning and involves local emergency services, NSW Police Rescue, Water Police and dozens of volunteers.
