Search resumes for missing fishermen off Coffs Harbour

A search is back underway for two fishermen feared missing off Coffs Harbour.

The pair, aged 70 and 37, left the Jetty Boat Ramp on Jordan Esplanade around 6am on Sunday, in a five-metre runabout and were headed towards Sawtell Reef.

The alarm was raised around 6.45pm after the two men failed to return.

Police, the Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter searched tirelessly for the pair into the evening, before the operation had to be called off.

It has since resumed this morning.

NSW Police admit they hold grave concerns for the men’s welfare as their car remains at the boat ramp.

Police have been told the runabout was equipped with life-jackets however it not known if the men were wearing them.
