Second round of consultation on Gold Coast’s City Plan extended

Gold Coasters now have another week to ‘have their say’ on the City Plan changes.

Council has announced that the cut off for the second round of consultation will now wrap up on Wednesday February 12, rather than February 4.

“The public notice for the consultation, as required under the Ministers Guidelines and Rules (MGRs), was not published on the intended date.

“To ensure the community has every opportunity to be made aware and provide feedback on the proposed changes, we will be running a second public notice allowing 20 full business days for the community to provide feedback following the new notice date,” a City spokesperson said.

It comes after the first round of consultation saw a whopping 1203 submissions.

“We have assessed the submissions received and are proposing further changes through a second round of public consultation.

“These changes aim to balance feedback received during the first round of consultation with the need to responsibly manage and plan for growth and safeguard our enviable lifestyle.

“These changes identify matters considered to be ‘significantly different’,” Council’s website reads.

There are still three opportunities to talk to Council Officers in regards to the proposed amendments, at upcoming ‘talk to a planner’ sessions.

16 January 2020 – Australia Fair Shopping Centre 3pm – 7pm – TALK TO A PLANNER
18 January 2020 – Chirn Park, Chirn Crescent & Turpin Road 9am – 12pm – TALK TO A PLANNER
21 January 2020 – Currumbin RSL 6pm – 8pm – TOWN HALL MEETING
