Second teen dies following horror Friday night crash in rural NSW
A second teenager has died following a horrific crash at Munghorn, near Mudgee, on Friday.
Police said an unlicensed 16-year-old boy was driving a Ford Festiva along Wollar Road just before midnight on Friday when he lost control around a sweeping bend.
Police said it appeared the inexperienced teenage driver had swerved to avoid hitting a wombat.
The vehicle careered into an embankment and flipped onto its roof.
A 14-year-old male passenger died at the scene.
The driver, a 16-year-old male, was ejected from the vehicle.
He suffered life-threatening head injuries and was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
Sadly, police confirmed he died at around 11am this morning.
Police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
