Security guard attacked, bitten and spat at in Surfers Paradise

A MAN has been arrested and charged after he allegedly bit and spat at a security guard during a disturbance in Surfers Paradise this morning.

Police said the 34-year-old man from Scrubby Creek allegedly became involved in an argument over a ticket with staff at a transport company on Beach Road around 10.30am.

A security guard intervened and attempted to escort the man away from the business at which time police said he became aggressive and spat at the guard.


A physical altercation followed, during which the man allegedly bit the security guard on the arm.

Police attended a short time later and took the 34-year-old man into custody.

He has since been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and public nuisance and will face Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The security guard, a 42-year-old man from Upper Coomera, received medical treatment for a bite, bruising and contusions.
