UPDATE @ 12.00PM | Police have released more information regarding an alleged assault including a skateboard at Burleigh Heads overnight.
It’s understood a security guard was driving a hatchback along the Gold Coast Highway, when a pedestrian used a skateboard to try strike the side mirror of his vehicle.
The man then pulled the car over and tried to talk to the pedestrian about the damage.

Though he was then allegedly hit with the skateboard 12 times on the head, back and arms.
A passerby then intervened and the police were called to the scene, near Connor Street around 11.30pm.
The 38-year-old security guard was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
While police arrested a 37-year-old at the scene, and charged him with assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage and contravene a police direction.
He’s been granted bail to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on February 17.
EARLIER ARTICLE @ 7.00AM | A security guard’s been hospitalised after he was allegedly bashed with a skateboard out the front of a business in Burleigh Heads.
Emergency services were called to the Gold Coast Highway and Connor Street in Burleigh Heads just after 11.30pm last night.
Paramedics treated the man for cuts to his arm, though police say there were reports his arm may have been broken, and that he was also hit in the head and back.
He was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for further treatment, where he’s believed to be in a stable condition.
Meantime, police have arrested and charged a 37-year-old man with multiple offences following the alleged assault.
He’s been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage and contravening a police direction.
He’s been granted bail and will front Southport court on February 17.
