Selena Gomez didn’t tour Australia because she was undergoing chemo

Selena Gomez has shocked Australian fans, revealing the real reason why she skipped her down under tour in 2013.

Speaking to Billboard magazine, the 23-year-old said that she was battling Lupus at the time, and had to undergo Chemotherapy.

Lupus is an auto-immune disease that can cause inflammation, swelling of joints, extreme fatigue, headaches, chest pain and hair loss and can range from mild to life-threatening.

“That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke,” she said.

There were rumours at the time that the ex-Disney star was in rehab.

“I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re a**holes’,” she told Billboard.

“I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again.”

Selena said she used all the negative press and channelled her anger into her new album, Revival, which will be released tomorrow.

“The hate motivated me,” she said. “This is my time. I’ve deserved this. I earned it. This is all me.”
