POLICE have arrested a 23-year-old man on the Gold Coast following investigations into an incident on Saturday 4 January, 2014.
It is alleged the man claimed to have ties to the Finks Criminal Gang when he threatened to harm a Gold Coast resident.
Detective Inspector Brendan Smith from Taskforce Maxima said that it is important for people to understand that alleging association to criminal gangs to facilitate crime will face the full force of the new legislation where appropriate.

“Historically, members of the public have been reluctant to come forward due to the intimidation by gang members,” Detective Inspector Smith said.
“The new legislation assists in removing this intimidation, of both complainants and witnesses’, by removing the gang’s ability use their numbers to influence the complainant and witnesses versions.”
The man was scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
