Separate crashes halt afternoon rush on Gold Coast’s M1 – again!

A CAR has collided with a motorbike in the southbound lanes of the M1 on the northern Gold Coast, grounding the afternoon traffic rush to a halt.

The accident occurred just past the Coomera River bridge, near the Hope Island exit, shortly before 4pm.

It’s understood a car towing a trailer collided with a motorbike.

Emergency services are on the scene and paramedics are reportedly working on a person on the side of the road.

The patient’s condition is not known.

Witnesses tell myGC the motorbike can be seen resting on its side.

Motorists are being urged to be patient or delay their journey south if possible with delays building in the area.

Meanwhile, a second accident is causing issues for northbound traffic near Exit 69.

Motorists trying to get onto the M1 via Smith Street are finding it near impossible to do so after two cars came to grief near the onramp, blocking the entry point.

As a result, traffic is backed up along Smith Street for more than four kilometers.

Motorists are being urged to delay their journey or seek an alternate route if possible.
