Pedestrian killed on Gold Coast’s M1
UPDATE @ 8.00am: A MAN has died after being hit by two vehicles on the Pacific Motorway this morning.
Police confirmed the tragic news in a statement just before 8.00am.
“Preliminary information indicates just after 6.20am a man was struck by two vehicles after he walked onto southbound lanes of the highway at Helensvale,” police said.
The man, aged in his 60s, died at the scene.
The two drivers of the vehicles were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
There are major traffic delays southbound on the M1 with motorists urged to avoid the area.

EARLIER @ 6.35am: Motorists are being warned to expect lengthy delays southbound on the Pacific Motorway this morning following a serious crash.
The accident happened at Arundel, just before the Smith Street exit, between Exit 62 & 66.
Queensland Ambulance say a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle travelling south just before 6.30am.
They’re currently on scene treating a man, whose age is not yet known.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

I drove past this poor man around this time, walking slowly down the hard shoulder at Helensvale. He seems to be meandering, not in any particular hurry. I had a strange premonition something was going to happen to him. I feel awful.
