‘Serious incident’ sparks emergency declaration in Bribie Island

An emergency situation is currently unfolding in Bribie Island this morning, with police responding to a serious incident.

Officers were called to a home on Kelliher Street in Rothwell around 8.00am, following reports of a serious assault.

Officers tracked a vehicle of interest to Bribie Island where police made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act at 10.45am.

The PSPA encompasses Bigmulys St, Sylvan Beach Esplanade, Elkhorn Avenue and Eucalyptus St.

Specialist police are on scene and people are being asked to avoid the area.
