Police are investigating after a 12-year-old girl was struck by a car in Broadbeach this afternoon.
Initial inquiries indicate just before 5pm, the vehicle was travelling southbound on the Gold Coast Highway when the girl walked onto the road at the intersection of Hooker Boulevard and was hit by the car.
She has been transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition with serious head injuries.

The female driver remained at the scene and assisted police with their inquiries.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
