Seriously injured driver cut from wreck of shocking crash

A TAXI driver has been rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after being cut from the wreckage of a shocking crash north of Brisbane.

Police said the accident happened in Kippa Ring at Moreton Bay just before 3.30am on Saturday.

It’s understood a taxi smashed into a tow truck at the intersection of Anzac Avenue and Mandin Street.

The taxi driver, a 56-year-old man, was trapped in the wreckage and had to be cut free before he could be taken to hospital.

Police said the man was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with serious head injuries.

The man was the only person travelling in the taxi at the time.

A 60-year-old woman travelling in the tow truck was taken to hospital for observation, while the tow truck driver escaped uninjured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
