Man charged after violent stabbing attack on Gold Coast

UPDATE @ October 5 | A 25-year-old will front court tomorrow, charged with the wounding of a man in Broadbeach on Saturday night.

Emergency services were called to Hooker Boulevard and Pacific Fair Drive in Broadbeach around 10.40pm, following reports of a stabbing.

It’s alleged three men were travelling in a car that had stopped at the lights, when a bottle was thrown at their vehicle.

A 27-year-old got out of the vehicle, when he was allegedly hit with another bottle to the side of his head.

A group then set up the man, before he was allegedly stabbed. They tried to flee but were arrested nearby and assisted police with their inquiries.

A 25-year-old has since been charged with one count of wounding.

He’ll front Southport court tomorrow.

EARLIER @ October 4 | A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed during what appears to be a horror road rage attack on the Gold Coast overnight.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Hooker Boulevard and Pacific Fair Drive in Broadbeach around 10.40pm following reports of a stabbing.

It’s alleged three men were travelling in a car through the suburb when they stopped at a set of lights at the intersection and a bottle was thrown at their vehicle.

“A 27-year-old man exited the vehicle and another bottle was thrown, hitting him on the side of his head,” police said.

A group of males then set upon the injured man and allegedly stabbed him with an unknown object before driving away in a white sedan.

The vehicle was intercepted on a nearby street shortly after and the group of seven fled on foot, however they were quickly arrested.

Three boys aged 16, a 17-year-old boy, and three men aged 18, 19 and 25 remain in police custody and are assisting police.

The victim was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

Police said the two groups involved did not know each other.
