UPDATE: Six people hospitalised after high impact crash on the Gold Coast

Update @11.20am: Six people have been hospitalised with minor injuries after a high impact crash in Southport this morning.

Five crews attended the two car collision in the northbound lanes on the Gold Coast Highway on Sundale Bridge around 10.15 this morning.

After almost an hour on scene, assessing seven patients, six were taken to hospital in stable conditions.

Traffic was backed up along the Gold Coast Highway for more than an hour, with delays back to Broadbeach and clogging up Chevron Island as well.

Traffic has since returned to normal.

Earlier @10.20am: Seven people are currently being assessed by paramedics after a nasty crash in Southport this morning.

It happened in the northbound lanes on the Sundale bridge around 10.15am.

All northbound lanes are currently blocked, with traffic unable to get passed the crash.

Queensland Ambulance confirmed that seven people are being assessed, after a ‘high mechanism’ (significant impact) crash.

Three crews were initially called to the scene, another two are currently on their way.

Luckily, all patients are believed to be in a stable condition.
