Seven schoolies arrested in Surfers – Police happy overall

Seven school leavers have been arrested in Surfers Paradise on the first official night of celebrations.

Police say a majority were charged with public nuisance and drug possession on Saturday night.

Generally police were pleased with the behaviour of schoolies.  A 17-year-old boy was arrested in Surfers on Friday night, before official celebrations kicked off.  He was allegedly caught with pills, believed to be MDMA and cash.

19 ‘toolies’ [non schoolies] were arrested on 25 charges on Saturday night.

The majority of them were charged with public nuisance and good order offences.
