Seven teens charged after stolen car spree on Gold Coast

UPDATE @ 1.15 PM | Police have finally laid charges after two alleged stolen cars wreaked havoc across Gold Coast roads yesterday.

A stolen Toyota Prado was seen on Reserve Rd at Upper Coomera around 8.15am on Thursday travelling with a stolen Mazda.

Road spikes were deployed on the Mazda on Fairways Drive at Clear Island Waters but the car continued driving before eventually coming to a stop in Genoa St in Surfers Paradise around 10.30am.

A 13 and 14-year-old boy were arrested at the scene.

The 14-year-old suffered a minor cut to his leg during the arrest while an officer also suffered cuts to his arm from the car’s broken window.

The Prado was tracked to the M1 at Yatala before it was abandoned at Exit 41 just after 11am.

A 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were arrested at the scene but three others fled into nearby bushland.

A 17-year-old boy was tracked down by the dog squad a short time later, suffering a bite from a Police dog. He had to be hospitalised.

A 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman were found around an hour and a half later and were also taken into custody.

The group of seven have now all been charged. Five of the juveniles were denied bail and remanded in custody to face Southport Children’s Court, while the 18-year-old woman and 17-year-old girl were issued with police bail to appear in Court at a later date.

A 14-year-old Alexandra Hills boy – has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and receiving tainted property (Mazda)

A 13-year-old Burleigh Waters boy – has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle (Mazda)

A 14-year-old Labrador boy has been charged with seven counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of fraud and one count each of receiving tainted property, burglary and enter premises to commit an indictable offence (Prado).

A 17-year-old Worongary boy has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of entering premises and commit an indictable offence and fraud (Prado).

A 17-year-old Pimpama girl has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and wilful damage (Prado).

A 16-year-old Mermaid Beach girl has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle (Prado).

An 18-year-old Yarrabilba woman has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle (Prado).

He was transferred to the Gold Coast University Hospital with a puncture wound to his groin.

A 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman were found around an hour and a half later and were also taken into custody.

Charges are yet to be laid and investigations are continuing.
