Several seats still too close to call five days after the election

The Liberal National Party remains ahead in the northern Gold Coast seat of Forde five days after the Federal Election.

Until Wednesday Labor led the LNP in the electorate but then LNP incumbent Bert Van Manen surged ahead.

He leads Labor candidate Des Hardman by 265 votes.  And as the postal votes roll in and are counted experts predict a Liberal win is more likely.

Other seats which still hang in the balance in Queensland include Capricornia, Herbert and Flynn.

In Western Australia Cowan is too close to call – same story in the Hindmarsh electorate in South Australia.

The Australian Electoral Commission has the Coalition ahead overall, leading Labor 74 seats to 71 but the ALP is ahead two party preferred.
