Severe fire warning in place for Southeast Queensland
Fire fighters in southern Queensland are on high alert today, with a severe fire danger in place across several areas.
The mercury is set to soar, with temps reaching the low 40s in some areas today.
A severe fire danger is place across the Southeast Coast, as well as the Central Highlands, Darling Downs, Granite Belt, Wide Bay and Burnett.
For the Gold Coast in particular, we’re set to hit temperatures around the mid 30s today, with the chance of a very dry thunderstorm rolling in later.
There’s also a total fire ban in place through until Friday, October 11.
Total fire bans are also in place in northern New South Wales, including the Tweed.
The Bureau of Meteorology expects the heat to subside on Wednesday, with a cool southerly moving through.
