It’s official. Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is running for New York Governor.
Nixon made the announcement on her social media channels on Monday US time.
“I love New York, and today I’m announcing my candidacy for governor,” the 51-year-old wrote.

She’s challenging incumbent Andrew Cuomo for the Democratic nomination.
“We want our government to work again. On health care, ending massive incarceration, fixing our broken subway,” Nixon said in her first campaign video posted online.
“We are sick of politicians who care more about headlines and power than they do about us.”
Nixon, a mother-of-three, says she’s a “lifelong New Yorker, actor, and progressive advocate who is running for governor to fight for a better, more equal New York.”
