Maria Sharapova has marked her comeback from a 15-month doping ban with a win.
The former world No.1 beat Italian Roberta Vinci in straight sets in the first round of the Stuttgart Grand Prix 7-5 6-3.
The 30-year-old received a wildcard for the German tournament, despite having had no ranking points after more than a year out following her suspension.

Sharapova was initial handed a two-year suspension after she tested positive at the 2016 Australian Open for meldonium but it was reduced on appeal.
The Russian claimed she had been taking the medication within the rules and didn’t realise it had been reclassified as a banned drug.
