A BEACH in northern New South Wales has been closed following a shark attack, the second of its kind in the past month.
A 38-year-old bodyboarder was near the northern point of Lighthouse Beach, off Port Macquarie, just after 5pm on Saturday when he was attacked.
It latched on to his left thigh and also caused injury to his stomach and back.

He underwent surgery in Port Macquarie Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
It comes just weeks after Evans Head surfer Craig Ison was attacked, forcing the closure of Ballina beaches on the first weekend of August.
He was treated at Gold Coast University Hospital and is continuing his recovery.
Earlier in the year, Tadashi Nakahara, 41, was killed by a shark at Ballina’s Shelley Beach.
