Surfers warned to remain aware following two shark sightings on Gold Coast

Surfers and swimmers are being warned to remain aware following two reported shark sightings in Gold Coast waters this morning.

Gold Coast paddle boarder Paul reported spotting a shark in close range to surfers at Bilinga Beach just after 7.00am this morning, with another spotted at Burleigh Heads not long after.

Lifeguard Chris Maynard says lifeguards are on full patrol, and will be monitoring Gold Coast beaches throughout the day to ensure the safety of all swimmers.

“Our lifeguards will be on Jetskis patrolling beaches all day and if we do see any sightings we will be getting people out of the water as soon as possible,” Maynard said.

Locals are being warned to remain extremely vigilant and are encouraged to stay out of the water at this time.
