Shotgun cartridges, drugs and cash found after GC crash

Police called to a car accident in Parkwood have found shotgun cartridges, drugs and cash.

Police say a 30-year-old crashed a stolen car into another car at the intersection of Olsen Avenue and Parklands Drive at about 8.50pm on Tuesday night.

The three people in the other car involved in the accident escaped with minor injuries.  Two were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

It will be alleged during a search of the man three shotgun cartridges, a sum of cash and a quantity of drugs were found in his possession. It will also be alleged that during a search of the car he was driving a loaded firearm and stolen number plates were also found.

A 30-year-old from Cairns North is under police guard at the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of an unrelated and pre-existing medical condition.

He is yet to be charged.
