Shots allegedly fired in wild car park brawl

DETECTIVES are investigating after a number of shots were allegedly fired during a wild brawl at a car park in Brisbane’s north.

Police were called to reports of up to 30 men fighting in a car park at a sports field on Zillmere Road at Zillmere around 1.20am on Saturday.

Two men were arrested for public nuisance offences, while the rest of the group was moved by officers.

Police said that’s when officers were told that shots had been fired during the confrontation before they arrived.

“In the process of dispersing the group, a witness told officers a dark four wheel drive had pulled up prior to their arrival, when a man in the front passenger’s seat removed a firearm from the vehicle’s boot and discharged it twice,” police said in a statement.

“The witness told police the driver then accelerated away at speed.”

Thankfully, no one was physically injured during the melee.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have been on or around Zillmere Road this morning to come forward.
