Sinkhole still causing issues on the northern Gold Coast
A northern Gold Coast road remains closed to traffic after a sinkhole opened up on Thursday.
The crater formed on Short Cut Road at Woongoolba, with crews called to inspect it at 10:22 am.
It is only small on the surface, looking like a pot hole of about 600mm, however crews have discovered it is a lot bigger underneath.
Police were initially called in to direct traffic, with a QPS spokesperson advising the section of road is a common thoroughfare for trucks.
Short Cut Road remains closed in both directions between Mill Road and Holmstead Road.
Motorists are being diverted along Stapleton and Jacobs Well Road.
