Two young sisters have drowned in a backyard pool north of the Gold Coast this afternoon.
Police say the 3 and 4-year-olds couldn’t be saved by their parents, who were alerted by another five-year-old daughter.
“The two young girls were taken out of the pool by their parents and given CPR,” Inspector Glenn Allen told the Nine network.
“Ambulance officers responded but were unable to revive them; obviously it’s an absolute tragedy that the two of them are now gone.”
Inspector Allen said the pool, in the LOGAN suburb of KINGSTON, was fully fenced but Logan City Council officers are checking to see if it meets regulations.
