Six shotguns, eight rifles stolen from shipping container in NSW

POLICE are searching for 14 guns – including six shotguns and eight rifles – stolen from a shipping container in NSW.

The guns were taken from a rural property on the New England Highway at Singleton, sometime before 7.00pm on Monday 27 November.

Detectives said thieves broke into two shipping containers on the property, gaining access to a gun safe which contained 14 firearms and ammunition.

“About 7pm last night, the 69-year-old occupant returned from a week’s vacation and noticed two shipping containers on his property had been broken into,” NSW police said in a statement.

In total, six double barrel shotguns, eight rifles and two boxes of ammunition were stolen.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact detectives at Hunter Valley Local Area Command or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
