Skeletal remains found in NSW bushland believed to be missing woman

SKELETAL human remains found in bushland in NSW are believed to be those of a woman who has been missing for 6 months.

A member of the public alerted police after finding the remains in bushland north of Lake Alexandra in the Southern Highlands about 2.00pm Saturday.

A crime scene was established and has since been examined by forensics officers.

Police say a post mortem examination will be conducted in the coming days to formally identify the remains, however they’re believed to be those of a 52-year-old woman who was reported missing from her home in Mittagong in June.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.
