Ski fields welcome first significant snow falls

As some of us in Queensland continue to sleep without a blanket as overnight temperatures refused to drop below double-digits, those around the NSW Snowy Mountains have welcomed their first significant snow fall.

The sight of the snow-capped peaks marks the exciting lead up to the 2016 season.

The mercury has dropped below zero in parts of the New South Wales alpine region with resorts including Charlotte Pass, Thredbo and Perisher waking up to find the ground covered with the white powder.
