Small number of Schoolies and Toolies arrested on night one

TEN Schoolies have found themselves on the other side of the law on the first night of official celebrations in Surfers Paradise.

The boys were arrested on 15 offences with the majority for being drunk and public nuisance.

Two were issued with liquor infringement notices for drinking in a public place.

Police say generally they were pleased with the behaviour of the school leavers, who will spend the next week unwinding after graduating Year 12.

However, 16 non-schoolies or so-called ‘Toolies’ were slapped with 18 charges, mainly for public nuisance and other good order offences.

15 other non-schoolies were issued with liquor infringement notices.

Around 35,000 graduates are expected to take part in the organised celebrations in Surfers Paradise this week.
