Smoke haze on the Gold Coast until Wednesday

We are waking up to smoke haze across the Gold Coast on Tuesday morning.

People living in Reedy Creek, Varsity Lakes and Burleigh Waters areas are mostly affected.  There was even smoke haze reported in Southport on Monday night.

A hazard reduction burn got underway in Bonogin on Monday and is expected to continue until Wednesday.

Firefighters will be there again during the day and say the burn is still producing large quantities of smoke.

We are asking residents to close windows and doors to try and minimise smoke throughout the house.

Keep medications close by if you suffer from a respiratory condition.

Motorists should always drive with caution and to conditions on the roads.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service will post an update on its Facebook page once the burn has been completed.
